Peter & Gill Langmead on Zambezi 107.7 fm

Meet Peter and Gill Langmead from Chisamba, north of Lusaka, who’ve been visiting Livingstone to see the lunar rainbow over Victoria Falls for the first time, even though they’ve lived in Zambia for many years. So, we took the chance of inviting them to guest on The Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient, our regular Sunday night radio show airing on Zambezi fm every Sunday at 20.30 hrs Zambian time, and also streaming live on the internet. Peter and Gill own Langmead and Baker – click the link to read all about their company!

“Did the lunar rainbow live up to expectations?” Milli Jam asked our guests at the beginning of the programme. “It probably exceeded them” replied Peter “it was absolutely fantastic!” “Did you get some good photos?” We wanted to know. “Absolutely!” said Gill “in fact we’ve already posted quite a lot of them on the internet via Twitter and Facebook”. “How did you hear about Chanters Lodge?” asked Milli Jam. Our guests went on to explain that they’d first made contact with me through Twitter and everything had then fallen into place when they came to make their arrangements to visit Livingstone and see the lunar rainbow. Of course they’d found time to do other things as well, including visits to Livingstone Museum and the Railway Museum, as well as Lawrence Yombwe’s fabulous art gallery.

Peter explained that he’d first come to Zambia in the mid 80’s and that for most of his career he’d been involved in agricultural development – for much of that time with cassava. We were amazed to hear about the many uses of this shrubby plant whose starch filled roots are much in demand in Zambia for food. For some time Peter and Gill produced cassava starch commercially. They’d been involved in many other things, we heard, including but not limited to, the production of essential oils and bath soap, the publication for 5 years of Beauty Zambia magazine and handling media interests and public relations for British Airways in Zambia, amongst a load of other corporate clients!

The music on the show was great. We opened with Cher Lloyd’s ‘Swagger Jagger’ (number one last week in the UK), back to back with One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ – “sure fire future hit” I commented. Our Zambian tracks were ‘Vomela’ by Dalitso and ‘Nalilwala’ by Afunika. (The first track saying ‘if you’re sick, accept it’ and the second ‘I’m sick’ ….apparently!) Milli Jam also featured ‘My Life’ by DJ Khaled and Akon coupled with ‘Oleku’ by Prince ft Brymo. Our oldie of the week was ‘Dancing On The Ceiling’ by Lionel Richie and we closed with Jessie J’s ‘Sometimes Dreams Come True’. (In a disappointing number of replies Enoch won a dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge for texting us that it was Lionel Richie singing ‘Dancing’.) The Langmeads informed us that they were friendly with Hip-Hop Mr Cri$iS with whom they had been involved on the United Against Malaria campaign.

Peter and Gill told listeners that they’d been married for 11 years and had originally met in England (in a Hampshire wine bar!) They’d spent some time living in Thailand. Gill’s background was in journalism but at the moment their focus was on public relations and media matters. Peter had just returned from a trip to the far north of Zambia and when they left Livingstone the next morning they were heading for Choma to research a vitamin A enhanced maize.

Interesting, lively and nice guests? You bet!

Laura Goble & Carla Roberts Have Impact on 107.7fm

Meet Laura Goble (left) and Carla Roberts pictured above, project and volunteer co-ordinators respectively with African Impact in Zambia, an organization with over 5 years experience facilitating quality volunteer programmes they are the African specialists in volunteering. These two pretty, funny, lively, vivacious young ladies represented the organization brilliantly on the latest edition of the Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George da Soulchild, our regular Sunday night radio show airing live on Zambezi 107.7 fm at 18.30 hrs GMT and now streaming live on the internet. We had proof that the streaming is normal, receiving messages from England and Scotland while we were on air. Very excited about that we were too! Thanks to Edward Chanter and Isaac Mwanza 107.7 fm is now available on the Chanters Lodge website too! Scroll to Radio Show on our site!

Laura comes from South Africa while Carla hails from Ireland, we discovered as Milli Jam started to interview the girls. They explained to listeners that at the moment African Impact has 20 volunteers in Livingstone, all staying at Livingstone Backpackers and involved variously in education and health projects. We were told that the majority of the volunteers came from UK but also from other European countries such as Holland and Germany. Milli Jam seemed taken aback that Laura and Carla were not staying at Chanters Lodge – “how did you meet Richard then?” He wanted to know. “We met him at the airport while we were all waiting for clients” the girls explained. “Are you in the habit of picking up old men at airports?” The clearly envious Milli Jam continued. “Only if they’re good looking like Richard!” was the wonderful reply. (Flattery will get you dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge! Lol!)

The music on the show was a great mixture. The girls requested Flavor’s track ‘Sawa Sawa’ a smash hit in Zambia for the Nigerian star, which they dedicated to all the African Impact and Livingstone Backpackers staff, as well as volunteers listening to the show. Before that track we’d opened with ‘She Makes Me Wanna’ by JLS featuring Dev, the current UK number one, back to back with Ester Dean featuring Chris Brown and ‘Drop It Low’. More African tracks were Dandy Krazy with ‘Donchi Kubeba’ and Ty2 ft Kaufela with ‘Spotlight’. We played Ice Prince ‘Oleku’ as well. Oldie of the week was the late Akim Simukonda’s haunting ‘Bana Bandi’ (‘don’t hate each other when I’m gone’ his advice to his many children recorded just before he died). We asked for the name of the artist singing Bana Bandi by text to win a prize of dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge with drinks and the prize was quickly snapped up!

The girls told listeners they’d done loads of the activities available for tourists – everything from elephant riding to the zip line, excluding bungee! That very day they’d returned from a weekend on Bovu Island which they’d loved. “It used to be famous for fun and games” I commented. The girls just giggled. Enough said.

“Are you married?” Asked Milli Jam. “No” the girls replied. “Boyfriends?” Milli Jam persisted. “No” replied the girls. “George!” said Milli Jam as we laughed. Asked about their musical tastes, Carla surprised us ‘Aqua’ she said. “What!?” I exclaimed “Barbie Doll Aqua?” “Yes” said Carla. I was stunned. ‘Pink’ said Laura much more understandably. Milli Jam closed with the usual question of where the girls would like to be and what they’d like to be doing 10 years from now but the answer didn’t go much further than “errr Africa”.

Good show this one!

Charles Chulu – Ag Station Manager Zambezi fm

We were delighted to welcome the seemingly serious, studious Charles Chulu (pictured above) as the latest guest on the Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George da Soulchild – that’s our regular Sunday night radio show airing live on Zambezi 107.7 fm, Livingstone’s leading local radio station at 20.30 hrs Zambian time and now streaming live on the internet too! 18.30 hrs GMT.

Charles had just been promoted from Programmes and Production Manager to Acting Station Manager and we were happy to be able to announce his appointment live on air. Mr Chulu is a 2009/10 graduate of the University of Zambia where he read Mass Communications and Development Studies. Whilst at University he gained experience working at the University radio station and served an internship with PANOS. He had been educated at St Clement’s High School in Luapula Province before attending University.

Charles told listeners that his long term challenge at Zambezi fm was to increase the listenership. In the short term the immediate goal was to host a car wash in Livingstone on the following Saturday to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Zambezi fm commencing broadcasting in 2006. Management, presenters and disc jockeys from the station would wash cars to raise funds for the Ebeneezer Orphanage in Livingstone. Charles thanked Chanters Lodge and others for the donations they had already received in this respect. Richard looked forward to Milli Jam washing his car at the weekend.

The music on the show was great! We opened with ‘In Your Bed’ by Mohombi. “Who’s in your bed?” I teased the Chanters Girls over the air. We followed Mohombi with the late, great Amy Winehouse and her classic ‘Back To Black’ speculating that the track might make the number one spot on the singles charts in UK that very evening. As it happened it didn’t. George’s local selection was O.C. ft Wendy Harawa with ‘Super XZ’ and Afunika’s ‘Ba DJ’. Good stuff! Milimo chose Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’ and Mya ft Sean Paul with the soulful ‘Rear View Mirror’.

Our ‘Oldie Of The Week’ was Celine Dion’s ‘Think Twice’ and we gave away a dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge to the first person to text us the name of the artist on the track. The listeners struggled but the prize was won! We gave the usual information about Lodgeblog and Twitter where we are @Livilodge, as well as the UK and USA pop charts update. ‘Private Dancer’ by Chris Brown closed the show.

Milli Jam wanted to know if Charles was married. He replied that he was not. “So you’re available then?” Milimo continued as the Chanters Girls at the lodge perked up their ears. “No I am not” replied Charles “I am very much spoken for!” I could sense the disappointment at the lodge through the air waves! “What football team do you support?” Milli Jam asked. “Locally I support Mufulira Wanderers and in UK I’m a Man Utd fan” Charles replied. “Play some music” I instructed as we laughed and did just that! (It’s an Arsenal show of course!) cutting off our station manager before he could wax lyrical about Rooney et al.

“Where would you like to be and what would you like to be doing 10 years from now?” Milimo asked Charles at the end of the show. “I have a passion for mass communications” replied Charles thoughtfully “so I would like to be broadcasting internationally from my own radio station, but in the meantime I want to work hard for Mr Swithin Haangala to make Zambezi fm the best radio station in the land”! “Super!” We said.

Hamoba Chimuka

George da Soulchild, co-presenter of our regular Sunday night radio show reports:

Hamoba Chimuka has released a new 13-track album titled Sangwapo, three years after his not-so-well publicised Hamz Way 2. Fondly called Hamoba, Chimuka is one of the many artistes that changed the face of Zambian music when he kicked off his career under a duo called Namanje with his peer Chatu.

Under Namaje guided by Chali Mulalami’s Sling Beats in 2004, Hamoba became popular with songs like Chimalita, Mutima and Ika Spaka, then later went to pursue a solo career that saw him catapult to fame with songs like Shelela and Bisa Mtima. Three years later, Hamoba hit the scenes with another album Hamz Way in 2006 and was later followed by Hamz Way 2.

“I took a long break since my last album because I was basically trying to grow and understand the direction our music is going. I was also working on other things but I think I have learnt a lot and I am hopeful my new album will compete well. It is a mature album with a lot of dance mix, rap and new effects,” he said in an interview.

Hamoba adds that Sangwapo album will reveal his energetic side but more importantly his ability to work with different artistes. “On this project I have worked with OC’s Obama Records which has produced most of the songs. I have also produced a number of songs. I have also done tracks from Roma Side and I have featured other atistes like Tommy Dee, Yellow Man, Ty II, Bob Muli, Oc and Macky 2,” he says.

Sangwapo features tracks like Nsima yadelele, Ntuleni, You Can, Niwe, Ndinobe and Wandi among others.

Brian Chikontwe – ‘X-Boy’ on 107.7 fm

It was time to have a Zambian guest on The Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George ‘Kaufela’ Soulchild. For the uninitiated that’s our regular Sunday night radio show, airing at 20.30 hrs every Sunday night on Zambezi FM, Livingstone’s leading local radio station, transmitting on 107.7 fm and streaming live on the internet. Why? Well for many weeks our guests had been international visitors! Brian Chikontwe aka ‘X-Boy’ made a different, lively and interesting choice.

“Why X-Boy”? Was the first question Milli Jam asked our guest and he explained that this was his stage name. He had created the name himself – ‘x’ marks the spot! Milli Jam wanted to know how long Brian had been a musician to which the answer was “I was born with music in my soul but about 7 years”! Brian hails from the Copperbelt and is married to Theresa. His father is a retired miner and now full time preacher. Brian told listeners that he has recorded about 12 tracks and hopes to produce his first album soon. He took time to explain to listeners how much of a problem piracy is in the Zambian music industry and confirmed that he would like to make his living from music. “How will you make ends meet in the meantime?” I asked. “I’ll hassle”! Was the quick reply!

We featured one of X-Boy’s tracks on the show which he recorded featuring Tamba Money. The track is entitled ‘Ayuba’ – ‘feeling good let’s party’. Just so happens this is the name of Livingstone’s leading night club managed by our very own Milli Jam. It’s a good track and we wished X-Boy well with it. George’s other choice of local track was Naked Face featuring Kaufela himself with ‘Pakusa Nga’ – ‘I was blessed to find you.’ Pretty much in-house our local selection this week!

Our oldie of the week was Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ and we gave our weekly prize of a dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge to the first person to text us telling us who was singing. There was a great response. We also played the UK No 1 – ‘Glad You Came’ by Wanted as well as R2Bees latest ‘Ayeeeei’. Kelly Rowland’s ‘All Of The Night’ and Usher and Ciara’s ‘Hot Tottie’ went down well.

Brian told listeners he supported Mufulira Wanderers locally and Chelsea internationally. He hoped that in ten years time he would have found recognition internationally as a musician and that he would have his own recording studio. We wished him luck.

Ben Blazer

George da Soulchild, co-presenter of our weekly radio show, sent the following report about an interview with Ben Blazer, seated above with some of the young musicians he’s helping!

Renowned producer and songwriter Ben Kalulu fondly known as Ben Blazer has become one of Zambia’s biggest names in the music industry and has produced a number of artistes. The youthful ‘ music maker’ has produced prominent names in the likes of Petersen, Ephraim, Danny, JK, Uniq and more. The Weekend Post recently had a chat with Ben in the following interview:

What is your latest project?

Ans: Well I am working with four artistes namely J.O.B, BobbyEast, Franciar and Flexville. I produce these artistes and I decided to bring them together to form a crew. As for now I am focused on the four so that I can turn them into big stars, then I can incorporate artistes and I do not want to have many people on the click because at times you may find that you have many artistes but only a few have what it takes to be one.

From your own understanding, just explain something about music.

Ans: Music is not like accounts where you are given a formula and you have to solve it. You have to go to school and most importantly have the passion for it because there are times when we have our difficult times but passion always keeps you moving. Whether you admit it or not, music imbeds our daily life, weaving its beauty and emotion through our thoughts, activities and memories. So if you’re interested in music theory, music appreciation, Beethoven, Mozart, or other composers, artists and performers, we hope you’ll spend some time and learn from these music articles of note for all ages and tastes.

Talk about your relations with your artistes.

Ans: I love working with artistes because we are like family. We chat and throw jokes, if you have realized our songs are crazy this is because someone comes up with a word and another also adds up a word just like that. It keeps us moving.

Any music producers you have worked with?

Ans: I have worked with T.K has always inspired me I have worked with him. I have noticed that most Zambian ,musicians just release one song and that is it why? This is because they do not have enough resources to support their music, my advice to the people is that we should buy original albums for artistes so that we can still see and hear their music.

Do you think you now have more people recording at your studio?

Ans: (laughs) well, I can say I am better the way I am now compared to last time where people could pay less money, now they pay good money and there is an acceptable number of people.

Shed some light on your branch in Lusaka.

Ans: As you are aware we have opened a branch here to enable some artistes in Lusaka record from Ben Blazer studio. I have been receiving a number of people coming to the studio to record which is a good thing.

Your advice to other fellow producers?

Ans: If you have never taken a course in of music, you don’t know what you are missing out on. The radio will never sound the same to you again. Everything will seem much more rich, much more luminous, and much more important. A new song can reflect a new way of being, and a new way of imagining life in the world. This is what learning about music means to many of us.

Viviana Sorrentino & Diego Girotto on 107.7 fm, Zambia

From memory this was the first time we’d entertained Italian guests on The Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George ‘Akufela’ Soulchild, so Viviana Sorrentino and Diego Girotto, pictured above, were especially welcome! The Experience is our regular Sunday night radio show airing live from 20.30 to 21.30 hours Zambian time on Zambezi FM radio 107.7, Livingstone’s leading local radio station. The programme is also supposed to stream live on the internet but we understand that the connection ‘times out’ at the moment, so there’s work to be done by the station in this regard. Sorry to anyone trying, but failing, to hear us last week.

Diego is a doctor, a general practitioner in Turin and Viviana’s just completed her Phd in Natural Sciences. They met 9 years ago in the library of the University of Turin in Italy. “Married”? Asked Milli Jam. “No”! Replied Diego. “Not yet”! answered Vivi! We laughed and speculated that Dr Diego might have a problem on the horizon! When asked if they’d travelled much in Africa Vivi told listeners she’d spent a long time in Madagascar studying lemurs. During their present trip this vivacious (geddit?), entertaining couple told us they’d spent time in Malawi and then in the South Luangwa National Park staying at Flatdogs – they’d absolutely loved the lodge, the park and the masses of game they’d seen!

From Flatdogs Vivi and Diego had moved on to the Lower Zambezi where they’d spent 3 days canoeing which they also loved. The day of the show they had just returned from one night in Chobe – they’d been disappointed that on seeing lion during this trip, one fellow traveller had become scared and they’d had to drive away prematurely.

The music on the show was super as usual. We played the UK top 2 at the start of the show ‘How We Roll’ by Loick Essien ft Tanya Lacey and ‘Louder’ by DJ Fresh ft Sian Evans. George’s local selection were ‘So Simple’ by Lupo ft T-Boy and ‘Walilowa’ by Naked Face. (‘So sweet’ – we were told this meant). Milimo chose two Nigerian artists Wizkid with ‘Holla At Ya Boy’ and Naeto C with ‘Ten Over Ten’. We introduced a new feature on the show ‘oldie of the week’ – this week ‘Don’t Pay The Ferryman’ by Chris de Burgh. ‘All About Tonight’ by Pixie Lott and ‘Cherry Bomb’ by Justin Kramer wound up the show.

Diego told listeners that although he lived in Turin he supported Inter Milan and not Juventus and that his favourite band was U2 while Viviana liked REM, also recommending an Italian group called Negrita. Milli Jam asked them how they’d come to choose Chanters Lodge and they explained they’d met a Dutch couple in South Luangwa (Rein and Jeanetta Coppens) who’d told them if they were going to Livingstone they must stay at Chanters Lodge. I loved it!

We gave away the usual dinner for 2 to the first listener to text telling us where Vivi and Diego were from and there was a great response. We greeted Guests and staff at the lodge. Our lovely Italian couple told listeners that 10 years from now they hoped to be owning and running a guest lodge in Tuscany! They would ask for my help! I think I’ll hold them to that!

Gayle-Anne Drury on The Chanters Lodge Experience

There were some technical issues on the latest edition of the Chanters Lodge Experience with The Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George da Soulchild – partly I guess because George wasn’t around this week – wearing his rapper hat George aka ‘Kaufela’ had gone to Lusaka to try and speed up the release of his forthcoming album. However it was a good show and our Guest Gayle-Anne Drury, pictured above, was a lively and interesting Guest. Our programme goes out on Zambezi 107.7 fm radio in Livingstone and streams live on the internet every Sunday night at 18.30 hrs GMT, 20.30 hrs Zambian time.

Gayle-Anne, a psycho therapist was staying at Chanters Lodge. She runs an organization in York called Baobab Centre.”The Baobab Centre provides one-to-one support through counselling, coaching and mentoring, training and consultancy to individuals and organisations. They provide the knowledge and understanding which underpins relational management and offer care, expertise, tools and strategies to individuals, teams and organisations to help maximise potential growth and development” Gayle-Anne told listeners.

Her visit to Zambia was to assist Tujatane School in Livingstone on a voluntary basis by way of training their teachers and teaching assistants to counsel, coach, mentor and build relationships. She stressed to listeners the importance of ‘listening’ to build relationships. “Yes” I said “and they should jolly well listen to the Chanters Lodge Experience every Sunday night too”! We moved on. How long had Gayle-Anne been married, Milli Jam asked. “A very, very, very long time!” She replied and refused to divulge further details! She told us of her son Adam 26 and daughter Ruth 24 living in London and doing well.

The music on the show was fine as usual apart from ‘I Wanna Go’ by Britney Spears that refused to play for some reason – perhaps she really did ‘wanna go’! Our Zambian tracks were ‘Manone’ by Chika and the catchy ‘Wa Overtime’ by Salma. “Salma’s telling her audience that she doesn’t want one night stands but something longer term” explained Milli Jam – I thought perhaps the lyrics were deeper than this, but no further explanation was forthcoming! The very latest releases from Example – ‘Stay Awake’ and Akon ‘Keep Up’ went down well, so too did Nicole Scherzinger’s ‘Right There’ and the worldwide Pitbull/Ne-Yo smash ‘Give Me Everything Tonight’ – the latter had the Chanters Girls singing along at the lodge, so I’m told!

Gayle-Anne told listeners she’d had no time for tourist acitvities while she’d been in Livingstone due to pressure of work. She further revealed that she’d actually been born in Zambia and had undergone most of her primary education here before moving to South Africa then UK. She told us she’d very much enjoyed a visit to Simonga Village the previous day where she’d been invited by friends.

We thanked the staff at the lodge for their very hard and excellent work during the first 10 days of July and gave away the usual dinner for 2 at Chanters Lodge to the first person to text us Gayle-Anne’s country of residence. The response was excellent! Delvick won.

Paul & Lesley Jenkins on Zambezi fm

Meet Paul and Lesley Jenkins (above) from Cambridge, England, guests on the latest edition of The Chanters Lodge Experience with the Milli Jam Ingredient featuring George da Soulchild – that’s our regular Sunday night radio show airing live between 20.30 and 21.30 hrs on Zambezi 107.7 fm, Livingstone’s leading local radio station, reaching a radius of about 75 kms and streaming live on the internet. (Just go to the Zambezi fm website and click ‘listen live’). Lesley and Paul were guests at Chanters Lodge and kindly agreed to appear on our show.

Lesley told listeners that she’d been in Zambia longer than Paul, as she’d been volunteering with Book Bus and went on to explain that The Book Bus aims to improve child literacy rates in Africa and South America by providing children with books and the inspiration to read them, books impart knowledge, fire the imagination and open up new horizons; they are also a tremendous source of enjoyment. The Book Bus is currently working to improve literacy rates at a community level in Zambia. She had much enjoyed her time as a volunteer.

Paul explained that he had only arrived in Zambia two days before the show but had managed to pack in a lot of activity in that short time! He and Lesley had taken the sunset cruise on Lady Livingstone the previous evening and on the morning of the show he’d taken a 15 minute microlight flight while Lesley looked on! He reported the view of Victoria Falls from the air as ‘amazing’. Before coming on the show they’d taken the rhino walk with Bwaato Adventures and had been happy to find and photograph one large rhino with its baby.

The music on the show was great. We opened as usual with ‘Candy’ by Aggro Santos ft Kim Wyatt, followed after the introductions by ‘Moves Like Jagger’ – Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera, back to back with ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ – Jason Derulo, the current UK number 1. “Up to date as usual on The Experience” I commented. Our Zambian tracks were ‘Mukondo’ by 4th Rock From The Sun coupled with ‘Move Me’ – Sobre, KRay Jay ft Salma. Milli Jam chose ‘Just A Dream’ by Nelly and Rihanna’s ‘Man Down’. We also played Flo Rida’s ‘Good Feeling’ and ‘TGIF’ by Katy Perry. The Chanters Girls rocked back at the lodge!

Paul and Lesley told listeners that Paul was a season ticket holder at Portsmouth FC in UK, that they’d been married for more than 30 years and had a son Matthew 21 and daughter Emma 24, back home in England. Paul is a banker. Lesley had recently visited Rwanda where she’d seen and been captivated watching the mountain gorillas. She’d also spent time in Mombasa,Kenya. Lesley said she’d love to volunteer again with Book Bus. She passed her greetings on to all the staff and volunteers with whom she’d worked in Livingstone, especially Kelly. The day after the show this funny and loving couple told listeners they were going to spend a week in the South Luangwa National Park.

Finally we gave away the usual dinner for two at Chanters Lodge to the first person to text us telling us which country Paul and Lesley came from. There was an excellent response some of which gave a new meaning to predictive texting as they told us the answer before we’d asked the question! Our weekly prize is very popular in Livingstone!

Mampi Rocks!

George da Soulchild, co-presenter of our Sunday night radio show on Zambezi fm radio in Livingstone sent this report:

“Recently Mampi got a rousing welcome at a packed Lusaka’s Eastpoint nightclub in Kabwata in anticipation of another one of her signature livewire performances. However, Mampi’s visibly enhanced waistline inhibited her from producing her fiery stage act that has been her trademark since the launch of her music career!

The venue meanwhile was packed as early as 20:00 hours and revellers saw Mampi take to the stage in the absence of her dancing queens. Mampi was instead supported by an unidentified back-up singer and managed to deliver her skills and keep the audience entertained, especially with tracks from her new project to be distributed by J-Kayo Records and set for release very soon.

She divided her act in two sets each lasting not more than an hour with only a few selected songs from her collection. In her first set, Mampi’s performance was upstaged by her looks as the audience was seemingly glued to her stiletto heels and skintight outfit in which she squeezed her extra kilos.

She later raised the temperature of the house when she introduced Copperbelt based hip-hop artiste Macky 2 who appeared as a surprise guest. Macky 2, who is the first Zambian artiste to feature more than ten other artistes including Mampi on his hit anthem Ndimupondo, began with a laidback performance of two songs supporting Mampi on stage. This after Mampi had earlier got a little help from her fellow Lusaka-based artistes Nel T and CK-Zee as curtain raisers. As starters, the duo was equally impressive when they performed their hit Chigololo and the song Zangaliyana whose video is set for release next month.

Eventually Mampi gave an improved closing act as she appeared more energized following a change of outfit. She performed among other popular songs the now-famous Why and Swililili her duet with PJ Swililili both produced by Digital X’s Raydo.
